Snow socks or car socks are a good alternative to traditional snow chains. A snow sock is like a sock you put over the tyre. The big advantage of snow socks is that they do not interfere with the operation of safety systems such as ABS and ESP. This is why car socks are specially designed for modern cars equipped with these safety systems. Snow socks have several more advantages; they ride much more gently than snow chains, do not cause damage to alloy wheels and are also more compact. 

Autostocks have been a legal alternative to snow chains since 2020 in all EU member states such as popular destinations (Germany, Austria, UK, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Croatia and Ireland).
