To determine the correct cable thickness, you can use the following formula:

Current (A) x distance (m) x 0.2 = required cable thickness in mm²

For example:

• A battery charger of 30A at a distance of 2.5 meters: 30 x 2.5 x 0.2 = 15 mm². In this case, choose the next standard thickness, namely 16 mm².

• An inverter of 450W on a 12V battery and 3 meters distance: 450W / 12V = 37.5A; 37.5 x 3 x 0.2 = 22.5 mm². Here, choose 25 mm².
